Orphan Train and Ellis Island series

Joan Lowery Nixon, who was community minded and wrote many works of historical fiction, has written about the Orphan Train children and the experience of coming to America through Ellis Island.

As Dr. Lofton, a Gamma Eta member, opines that Nixon wrote about the sacrifice that comes with raising a family. Mrs. Landry, another Gamma Eta member, encourages these books and resources to be the cornerstone of literary units about respect and immigration.
